Police Chief Thomas Rowe

Chief of Police Thomas P. Rowe is 29-year veteran of the Leonia Police Department. He was born the sixth of seven children in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. He is a graduate of Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell and the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. Chief Rowe joined the Leonia Police Department in 1990. Prior to joining the Leonia Police Department, he was employed by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration in New York City. 

Chief Rowe rose through the ranks of the of the Police Department. In 1994, he was promoted to Detective. In 1997, he was promoted to the rank of Patrol Sergeant. In 1999, he was promoted to Detective Sergeant and was placed in charge of the Detective Bureau. In 2003, he was promoted to the rank of Detective Lieutenant. In this role, he was in charge of both the Detective Bureau and Financial Administration of the Police Department. In 2013, he was promoted to the rank of Chief of Police. Chief Rowe has also served two stints as the Borough’s Acting Borough Administrator. 

Chief Rowe has been married to his wife Natalie for over 25 years. Chief Rowe and his wife have three children.
