Who Are We?
The Leonia Mayor's Advisory Committee on Race & Equity is formed by neighbors, like you, who represent our diverse community.
We represent distinct racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our families are extended, single parent, same-sex, blended, and adopted.
We seek to inspire a culture of equity by recognizing each person's unique circumstances and want to work to provide resources and opportunities needed to elevate their sense of value and empowerment.
We want to foster a neighborhood where every resident feels included in every aspect of our community; and where all of use unequivocally feel like we belong.
Mission
The Committee's mission is to cultivate a unified, inclusive, and anti-racist local community by educating and engaging residents, identifying areas of potential bias, and making strategic recommendation for policy and practice to the Mayor, Council, and other governing bodies that advance diversity, equity and inclusion throughout Leonia. We champion equitable policies that promote fairness in all areas including law enforcement, education, housing, and healthcare for people regardless of race, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious affiliation, ability status, or legal status.
Committee Members
Members are appointed annually by the Mayor. Current active members serve through the end of the current calendar year.
