The Leonia Board of Health consists of seven (7) members and up to two (2) alternate members who shall have the same qualifications as regular members and who shall be appointed in the same manner as regular members.

The members of said board shall be nominated and appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council.

The term of each member shall be designated in his/her appointment. All subsequent appointments, except to fill vacancies, shall be for the full terms of three (3) years effective January 1st. Any vacancy occurring during the term of any member shall be filled in the manner provided herein for the unexpired term only.

Meetings

Every 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6pm. Meetings take place at the Leonia New Municipal Center, 229 Fort Lee Road, 2nd floor.  There are no meetings in July, August, and November.

SUNSHINE NOTICE
BOROUGH OF LEONIA


PLEASE TAKE NOTICE  Unless otherwise scheduled, the 2026 meetings of the Board of Health of the Borough of Leonia will be held at the Borough of Leonia’s Municipal Center, 229 Fort Lee Road, 2nd Floor, Leonia, NJ 07605.  All meetings are scheduled to commence at 6:00 p.m.  The purpose of these meetings is to discuss routine matters related to the Board of Health.  Formal action may or may not be taken.  Meeting materials are posted on the Borough website and can be found by clicking on the following link: https://www.leonianj.gov/borough-government/boards-committees/board-of-health. Meetings through December 2026 are as follows:

  • Wednesday, June 17, 2026 - Board of Health Meeting 6:00 PM 

  • Wednesday, September 16, 2026 - Board of Health Meeting 6:00 PM 

  • Wednesday, October 21, 2026 - Board of Health Meeting 6:00 PM 

  • Wednesday, December 16, 2026 - Board of Health Meeting 6:00 PM 

Members of the public who attend will be able to give public comments during the relevant portions of the meeting. Members of the public may also submit public comment by electronic mail to awells@leonianj.gov in written letter form addressed to Joanne Green, President of the Board of Health by 1 p.m. on the date of the meeting.  When submitting your written comment, please reference that it is being submitted as public comment together with the meeting date at which you would like for it to be read.
